Our online publication tracks the progress of the Validated Plan. We bring you updates so families can follow the plan's progress in helping Black students achieve more in the classroom.
Region South is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Schools--212 in all, are spread from Mid-City to San Pedro. Our schools have nearly 100,049 students, about 15 percent of them are Black.
Though there are many exceptions, Black students often struggle at school, showing up at or near the bottom in academic achievement. Our plan, which began in October 2021, seeks to change that narrative.
The Validated Plan provides intensive support--counseling, tutoring, grade monitoring, Saturday classes-- to every Black student from Kindergarten to 12th grade.
Our goal: to remove barriers to academic achievement and increase the number of Black graduates who enroll in four-year colleges or launch into a career.
